The U.S. is managing state allocations of Pfizer and BioNTech’s, Moderna’s, and Johnson & Johnson's vaccines. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses taken several weeks apart, while Johnson & Johnson's only requires a single dose.
The vaccines developed by Pfizer - BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson have been federally approved for administration in the U.S. These vaccines underwent rigorous clinical trials assessing their safety and efficacy. Please refer to the CDC for more information about vaccine safety.
From the CDC: “Vaccine doses purchased with U.S. taxpayer dollars will be given to the American people at no cost. However, vaccination providers can charge an administration fee for giving someone the shot. Vaccination providers can be reimbursed for this by the patient’s public or private insurance company or, for uninsured patients, by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Provider Relief Fund. No one can be denied a vaccine if they are unable to pay the vaccine administration fee.”
